Falconwing Studio is among the co-producers of the newest Bulgarian drama series, Mamnik, inspired by the bestselling novel of Vasil Popov. The project is created in partnership with Bulgarian National Television (BNT), Global Films, and Falconwing Studio, and it will premiere on Bulgaria ON AIR and BNT.

Mamnik tells the story of the struggle between humans and an ancient evil awakened from legends, combining crime, fantasy elements, and Bulgarian folklore. The story unfolds in the border village of Vrakola, isolated due to the rising cases of coronavirus. Mysterious murders begin to occur, and locals wake up with unusual marks on their bodies. Three people confront the mystery, uncovering hidden secrets, forgotten legends, and the folkloric creature Mamnik – a winged demonic bird believed to bring death and curse.

Across 12 episodes, viewers will see talented young actors alongside established Bulgarian film and theater stars. The lead role of border police officer Bozhana Gorneva is played by Ekaterina Lazarevska, while her colleague Mitko is portrayed by Marian Stefanov. Yordan Rasin plays local policeman Kamen, and the pivotal character Lazar is portrayed by Gringo-Bogdan Grigorov. Other cast members include Vladimir Penev, Eli Skorcheva, Atanas Atanasov, Nikola Dodov, Mariana Krumova, Galya Alexandrova, and more.

The director and creative producer of Mamnik is Viktor Bozhinov. Cinematographer is Anton Bakarski, screenwriters are Vladislav Tinchev and Dimitar Hristov – Kevin, and composer is Petar Dundakov. The series is part of BNT’s production slate. The concept and overall execution are by Global Films, with producers Magardich Halvadzhiyan and Silvester Yordanov, based on the hit audio series Mamnik by Vasil Popov, created for Storytel. Falconwing Studio’s producers are Devora Yovcheva and Ivo Apostolov. The project is supported by the National Film Center.
