Unexplained events begin to occur in the village of Vrakola. Several people are murdered, while others awaken with mysterious marks resembling the trace of a bird’s claw. Emil Slavov, a resident of a retirement home, joins border police officer Bozhana Gorneva and her colleague Mitko in investigating the cases. Their search uncovers long-buried secrets and a terrifying creature brought to life from Bulgarian folklore. When Emil’s son, Delyan Slavov, disappears without a trace, the battle against evil becomes deeply personal. Helping them in their fight are the fortune-teller Dana and Lazar Karaivanov—a revenant who has returned from the dead with unfinished business in the world of the living.
